Bladder cancer is a disease in which cancerous cells develop in the bladder's tissues. The most common kind of bladder cancer is known as transitional cell carcinoma, or also referred to as urothelial carcinoma. Smoking happens to be a major factor contributing to bladder cancer cases.
Bladder Cancer Cause
Smoking itself is the single greatest risk factor causing bladder cancer. This is due to tobacco containing cancer-causing chemicals. If you smoke for a long period of time, these harmful chemicals enter your bloodstream and are then filtered via your kidneys into your urine.
Bladder Cancer Signs & Symptoms
Bladder symptoms may include:
- Urinating several times at night
- Difficulty urinating or having a weak urine flow
- Feeling an urgency to go immediately, although your bladder isn't full
- Pain or burning sensation during urination
- Urinating more frequently than normal
