According to Hopkins Medicine, anyone with stage IV pancreatic cancer has a 5-year survival rate of only 1%, and the average patient diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer will live for around 1 year.
When cancer advances this extremity, it means the cells have grown into a tumor in the pancreas, spread in the bloodstream and into other organs. In such cases, at this late stage, doctors in general are unable to do anything more; doctors often surrender to the fatal fate that awaits these unfortunate patients.
At this point, such patients are told to fully enjoy their last year on earth doing everything they once dreamed but never had a chance of doing.

In short, yes. There are indeed other treatment options that most conventional doctors would never really consider "valid" but as jokingly.
