In the beginning, melanoma signs range from a big brownish spot with darker speckles; a little lesion with abnormal parts and borders which look blue, pink, red, white or blue-black; to a mole which changes in feel, size, color or that bleeds.
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer. The three main types of skin cancer include melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.
What is Skin Cancer?
It's an irregular growth of skin cells, often caused due to excessive sun exposure, or sun's harmful rays.
Most Common Symptoms & Signs of Skin Cancer
The signs of basal cell carcinoma may include:
- Sores that appear crusty, have a depression in the center or bleed frequently
- A small, waxy or pearly bump on the neck, ears, or face
- Areas on the skin which appear like scars
- A flat, red/pink- or brown-colored lesion on the legs, arms, or trunk
Signs of squamous cell carcinoma may include:
- A rough, scaly lesion which may bleed, itch, and become crusty
- A firm red or pink nodule
Signs of melanoma may include:
- A mole which changes in size, color or that bleeds
- A brown-pigmented bump or patch
