Penile cancer begins in or on the penis. Cancer begins when cells start to grow wildly, or out of control.
The most common form of penile cancer is squamous cell carcinoma.
Cause of Penile Cancer
While the most common cause of penile cancer is HPV infection, smoking and smoking tobacco can contribute to the growth of penile cancerous cells.
Symptoms and Signs of Penile Cancer
The most common symptoms of penile cancer may include:
- Smelly discharge or bleeding under the foreskin
- Flat, bluish-brown growths
- Small, crusty bumps
- A section of skin growing thicker
- A red, velvety rash under the foreskin
- Changes in the skin color
- An ulcer that may bleed
- A lump
