Uterine cancer is cancer of the uterus that starts in the layer of cells which form the lining of the uterus. The most common two types are uterine sarcoma and endometrial cancer, occurring frequently in women over 55.
Uterine Cancer Causes
The exact causes of uterine cancer is not medically known yet, but certain risk factors have been recognized to include obesity and hormone imbalance, which are strongly connected to this cancer. Doctors know that the majority of endometrial cancer cells have progesterone and estrogen receptors on their surfaces.
Uterine Cancer Signs & Symptoms
The most common signs and symptoms of uterine cancer may include:
- Vaginal bleeding following menopause
- Bleeding between periods
- Pelvic pain
- A mass
- Weight loss
